Joanne has over 35 years working in the equine assisted activities industry. She is an avid horsewoman, ran a successful business breeding Connemara ponies and spent several years working in the arena directly with students of all ages and abilities. Joanne received a certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Virginia and spends a great deal of time in the community sharing her passion to spread the word about the benefits of equine therapy. She has been an active member of PATH INTL, President of the Board of Directors of the Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia and sat on the national nonprofit board, Horses and Humans Research Foundation that supports much needed scientific research as to the efficacy of equine therapy.
Outside of the office, Joanne has three sons, cares for her 33 old Connemara stallion, a dog and cat, and enjoys gardening and music.
