Sue Mitchell
Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL)

Sue has been in the company of horses since her early childhood, and sees it as her privilege to partner horses with people. The core facets of her teaching are sharing how horses may experience the world, and helping humans tap in to the wellness benefits of spending time with equines.

Sue has a lifetime of experience riding and training in English and Western disciplines. She spent 35 years in the nonprofit development arena serving vulnerable people and animals before transitioning to the field of therapeutic horse work. Sue is a PATH-certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL), and joined LTR in 2023. She has also worked in tandem with a mental health professional to provide Equine Assisted Therapy.

Sue lives in Maryland and fosters at-risk animals for her county’s division of animal services. She spends most of her time outdoors and travels southwest to hike and explore lesser-known wilderness areas.
