Laura W Smith
Executive Director

Laura Smith is Loudoun Therapeutic Riding’s Executive Director. She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Virginia where she majored in Psychology and minored in Economics. Laura grew up in Fairfax, VA where she participated in Pony Club and eventing. Her parents bred Thoroughbreds and Laura cared for and retrained them after their racing careers were over. She also volunteered for the center that is now Cloverleaf.

Laura and her husband Bruce lived in Lexington, KY for ten years where she worked for the Thoroughbred Industry and volunteered at Central Kentucky Riding for Hope and served on their Board of Directors as the Treasurer.
After the birth of their two children they returned to VA. Laura became a therapeutic riding instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) at Cloverleaf and was the Director of Development at Lift Me Up in Great Falls.  Laura also served as the Education Chair for the TRAV and as Education Coordinator for River Bend Pony Club.  Laura worked as Business Manager for Woodslane Farm in The Plains, VA before joining LTR.
Laura and her husband Bruce now live in Purcellville and here she is enjoys riding her horse Lucy, walking her two dogs, oil painting and sculpting horses when she has a chance.
