Ride-a-Thon, Veterans’ Day, and Holidays, Oh My!

It has been a whirlwind of a fall session here at Loudoun Therapeutic Riding!

On October 30, the 2021 Ride-a-Thon wrapped up with the first annual Costumed Ride at the new farm in Lovettsville. The theme for the ride was the Wizard of Oz, because “There’s No Place Like Home!” Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and participants, over $10,000 was raised for LTR. Many of those amazing volunteers helped put on a spectacular Wizard of Oz-themed ride, complete with the Yellow Brick Road, the Emerald City, and even some flying monkeys!

On November 11, the George C. Marshall Foundation hosted the 17th annual Veterans’ Day Celebration at Dodona Manor in Leesburg. Adaptive driving instructor (and veteran) Mary Jo Beckman and I attended the event to represent Loudoun Therapeutic Riding in honoring our nation’s veterans. It was truly a privilege to spend the morning with some of our nation’s heroes that live right here in Loudoun County.

As 2021 draws to a close, we still stand amazed that Loudoun Therapeutic Riding has a permanent home. To have a facility dedicated to therapeutic riding, drivingand other equine-assisted services is a dream come true. The realization of this dream is due to many of you, the generous supporters of Loudoun Therapeutic Riding. If you haven’t come to visit us yet, please reach out!

Be on the lookout for information regarding the January 2022 Chili Cook-Off.
