BraveHearts, a fellow PATH International Accredited Center offering equine assisted services to veterans in Illinois, is about to embark on their third annual “Trail to Zero” ride. Trail to Zero was created to spread awareness on veteran suicide. On average, 20 veterans take their own lives every day according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs. BraveHearts won’t rest until that number is zero.
Loudoun Therapeutic Riding is proud to host the horses and riders of BraveHearts along with Morven Park for 7 days in the barns we call home. Morven Park will be their home base before and after their leg to Washington D.C. on September 7th. From there, they will move on to ride to New York City and Chicago!
Supporting veterans is near and dear to our hearts, as we serve veterans in our community as well with our PATH International Equine Services for Heroes program. We have personally seen the benefits of equine assisted activities on veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI or physical wounds of war. As BraveHearts President Meggan Hill-McQueeney so eloquently put it, “Horses are good for the soul, for the mind and for the future of the veteran” and we could not agree more!
